Sit together comfortably. Take three deep "belly breaths" in through the nose and out through the mouth. Acknowledge whatever feelings they have today without judgment.

Read a page, let them read a sentence. Remove the pressure. If they stumble, gently supply the word. Keep the focus on the story's magic.

Close the book. Ask them one thing they noticed in the story, and share one thing you appreciate about them today. Ending on connection reinforces safety.
